Introduction
Noshbook ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Noshbook mobile application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Restaurants you add (name, cuisine type)
- Dishes you track (name, rating, notes, tags)
- Photos you attach to dishes — stored locally on your device only
Information collected automatically
- If you enable Cloud Sync: your Google account name and email address, used only to identify your account
- Optional location data, used solely to bias restaurant search results toward your area — we do not store or log your location
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the app and save your data locally on your device
- If Cloud Sync is enabled: to back up your restaurant and dish data to your private, encrypted account in Firebase so you can restore it on another device
- To power restaurant search autocomplete via the Google Places API — search queries are sent to Google's servers and subject to Google's privacy policy
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
Data Storage and Security
- Local data is stored on your device using SQLite and is not accessible to us
- Cloud Sync data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore under your unique account ID. Access is restricted so that only you can read or write your own data
- We implement reasonable technical safeguards, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

We do not sell your data to any third party.
Your Rights and Choices
- Disable sync: Turn off Cloud Sync in Settings at any time. Your data remains on your device only
- Export your data: Tap "Export My Data" in Settings to download all your restaurants and dishes as a CSV file — no account required
- Delete your data: Use "Clear All Data" in Settings to permanently delete all data from both your device and our cloud storage
- Delete your account: Contact us at [email protected] and we will delete your account and all associated cloud data within 30 days
- GDPR (EU residents): You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at [email protected]
- CCPA (California residents): We do not sell personal information. You may request disclosure or deletion of your data by contacting us
Children's Privacy
Noshbook is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
